EUH4D AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO GAIA-X INITIATIVE
EUHubs4Data Project and Gaia-X have complementary views and objectives on the way to create a data driven economy.
Both initiatives evolve around data and data-driven innovations, Gaia-X main focus being on federated data infraestructure, whereas EUHubs4Data focuses on building a European federated catalogue of services, datasets and trainings. This federated catalogue will be connected to the main data initiatives in Europe, including Gaia-X.
Some key players are working on both Gaia-X and EUHubs4Data Project, assuring the connection and the complementarity. IDSA and IMT, partners of EUHubs4Data are among the 22 founding members of Gaia-X; ITI, coordinating EUHubs4Data, and TNO are members of the Board of Directors of Gaia-X, and many other partners are playing an important role in their national Gaia-X hubs.
Both initiatives are playing a key role in the Data Economy. EUHubs4Data is a strategic project for BDVA, which, jointly with IDSA (also partner in EUHubs4Data like BDVA), Gaia-X and FIWARE, launched the Data Spaces Business Alliance, which will be the place where all the complementarities will put together to boost Data Spaces in Europe. Given its strong network of Data Innovation Hubs, EUHubs4Data can pave the way to deploy the data spaces in Europe.
Technical connections between the two initiatives are visible in multiple activities of the EUHubs4Data project, such as federated catalogue, interoperability, and data privacy. Consulting and exploring Gaia-X reference architecture documents is part of the knowledge base of the EUHubs4Data project.
