Strategy development with 360° focus both externally (environment, market) and internally (domain, processes, skills and data) with a possible implementation component
- Gap Analysis
- Recommendations for strategy and action (e.g. using the Data-driven Value Matrix)
Data-driven Business Strategy Development aims to develop recommendations for action for companies, with which a company can become a data-driven enterprise. This can range from conscious and targeted evaluation and analysis of data to optimize processes and products, to the development of new data-driven products and services, to the establishment of a future data-driven business unit or market. The strategy development is based on the systematic identification of data-driven opportunity fields in which added value can be achieved in the existing environment of market, business and organization, taking into account the aspect of data. For these chance fields a fact and resource-based estimation of the feasibility is made and based on this, strategy options for the company are worked out. This can go so far that also implementation possibilities for promising options are conceived and/or first options are already implemented.
Strategy development usually takes place in the phases of stocktaking, situation analysis, opportunity assessment, strategy formation and implementation planning. The stocktaking process collects and lists existing assets of the client that are suitable for the development of data-driven business models. The situation analysis assesses these assets and puts them into context. The opportunity assessment puts the situation in the context of experiences from other industries and provides a cost-benefit analysis for potential data-driven projects. Based on this, the strategy formation delivers strategic options and the implementation planning describes in broad outlines their implementation.
As a starting point for the strategy development, a data-driven maturity assessment can be performed beforehand.
